Agricultural & Animal Science
Agricultural & Animal Science research focuses on underlying biological principles for the production of field crops, pastures and high quality wool, meat or milk. The group has large, well-equipped laboratories, excellent animal facilities, and access to an experimental workshop and the resources of the University's farm. The Livestock Systems Alliance involves the discipline of Agricultural & Animal Science and co-located partners from SARDI and the Pig and Poultry Production Institute, which broadens the capability of the research activities at the Roseworthy campus and creates a vibrant atmosphere for teaching, research and extension.
The Discipline coordinates the Bachelor of Agriculture, Bachelor of Science (Animal Science) and Bachelor of Science (Animal Scioence) Pre-Vet programs and is a major contributor in the Bachelor of Science (Agricultural Science) program.
The Discipline has externally funded research income of around $3 million per annum and is involved in several national Cooperative Research Centres, viz: CRCs for:
- Australian Weed Management
- Beef Genetic Technologies
- Invasive Animals
- Desert Knowledge
- Environmental Technology
- Plant-based Management of Dryland Salinity
- Poultry
- Pork
