School of Agriculture, Food and Wine Annual Postgraduate SymposiumPrize-winners and acknowledgementsThe 2nd School Postgraduate Symposium (22 September and 23 September 2009) provided a forum for “mid-candidature” students to present their research in a friendly and supportive environment. The standard of presentations was excellent overall and it was great to see the breadth of research being undertaken. Discussion was lively and participants made the most of the opportunity to network, as shown by the buzz of conversation during breaks. Prize-winnersCongratulations to the following students:

Hayley Jolly, President, AgPOGS Congratulations to Emma Shattock!
Raised on a mixed sheep and cropping property in the mid-north of South Australia, Emma developed an interest in nutrition while working with cattle for the Royal Adelaide Show during high school. She is now about to enter her third and final year of a Bachelor of Science (Agricultural Science), majoring in livestock science. Emma said the award will assist her in gaining further insights into livestock nutrition. The award was presented to Emma at a ceremony held at APL headquarters in Canberra on the 13th February 2009. It was presented by members of the Pollard family – son Ean, Ron’s widow Faye and Ean’s wife Janine. Royal Adelaide Show 2008

The led steer activity at Roseworthy Campus is a fully student-organised program, and awards received totalled 3 Firsts, 1 Second, 1 Fourth, 1 Merit and the Highest scoring Charolais Carcase.
