Information for Prospective and Current Honours Students

Prepare yourself for an exciting career with an Honours degree. Whether you are interested in research or just want to have an edge in the job market, you can boost your qualifications with an Honours degree from the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine.

It’s not that hard to gain admission. Applicants need to have earned two credits in level III undergraduate courses relevant to their Honours project. Students from all areas of the University are able to apply for an Honours degree in the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine.

Projects are available in a wide range of topics. From cutting edge molecular biology and fundamental science through to agronomy and wine business, there are projects available to suit all students. Research subjects include micro-organisms (eg, yeast for wine making; plant pathogens), plants (eg, grain crops; fruit trees; grape vines), invertebrates (insects and related organisms), and vertebrates (eg, farm animals, chickens, wallabies). Take a look at what we have to offer – the breadth of opportunities is remarkable.

Still not sure? Why not have a look at our past projects to see what sort of things previous Honours students have worked on.

The School of Agriculture, Food and Wine offer students the opportunity to apply for various scholarships to assist them through their Honours year. Scholarships can include both a stipend (that you can use for living expenses) and research expenses.
