Application Form

The Honours courses within the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine are available to students from a diverse tertiary level background, ranging from science-related areas to business/marketing fields.

Students require at least two level III courses with a credit (or above) grade in a subject area related to their proposed research field.

Students who are considering Honours within the School should look at the list of prospective projects on offer to see what projects are currently available. If you are having trouble choosing a project, arrange a meeting with the Honours Co-Ordinator in your broad Discipline of interest who can then suggest some potential supervisors based on your areas of interest.

When you go to talk with your potential supervisor, you should take a copy of your academic record so that they can determine if you have done an appropriate range of courses. Students from the University of Adelaide can use an unofficial copy of their record; students from another University will need to provide an official copy of their record.

Once you have spoken with a potential supervisor and have selected a project for your Honours degree, you should complete an Honours application form. This form needs to be signed by your potential supervisor and Honours Coordinator of the relevant Discipline before it is submitted to the School Honours Committee for approval. In addition to your transcript, you will also need to attach a 1 page summary of your proposed project. If you are also applying for a School Scholarship, attach a copy of your CV (maximum of 4 pages) and a statement outlining your research career aspirations.

Each year there are two cohorts of Honours students: February (April for Oenology students) and July. In some cases, your project may determine which is the best time of year to start. Which cohort will suit you best will be discussed with your potential supervisor.
